The half-titles and title-pages advertise this as the seventh and eighth volume in a ten-volume set of Austen's Novels edited by Reginald Brimley Johnson but as Gilson notes, the novels were all issued separately, and reprinted at different times. This is the second edition of Emma, from December 1892, two months after the title first appeared in this version. The illustrations are by William C. Cooke and were short-lived for Dent; the publisher reissued the text of this set in 1898 but with new, colour illustrations by C.E. and H.M. Brock supplanting Cooke's efforts.
