Description

FIRST EDITION, 3 vols., 12mo, pp. viii, 321, [1]; [iv], 324; [iv], 348. Untrimmed in later pale blue boards backed in grey paper, printed paper labels to spines. Some scattered toning and spotting. Bindings a little rubbed and marked, endpapers sometime renewed. Bookplates of Phiroze K. Randeria to flyleaves, ownership inscriptions of James Shirrefs Jr to title-pages.

Notes

Scott's sixth novel, set just before the 1715 Jacobite uprising. Although aping the publisher's boards, this binding appears to be a later re-creation, preserving the original labels. It comes from the collection of Dr Phiroze Randeria (1924-2001), book collector and benefactor of the Bibliographical Society.
