The third edition, shortly after the first, of this response to the outcome of the First Continental Congress of October 1774. Reportedly originally produced for distribution in the colonies, it argues against independence in a paternalistic tone. This edition is the first to have General Burgoyne's speech appended, and adds the names of Scottish booksellers to the imprint, including the Foulis brothers in Glasgow - and while a handful of copies are held in Scottish libraries it nevertheless escaped Gaskell's attention entirely.
