Boards soiled and a little marked, spine sunned, endpapers toned. Armorial bookplate to pastedown and ownership inscription to flyleaf of J.G. Frome Wilkinson dated Jan 1914.


The second issue of the first English translation of Dostoevsky's final novel, published the year after the first, and the first volume in publisher Heinemann and translator Constance Garnett's project to bring the Russian's novels and short stories into English, many of them, as here, for the first time.
