Notes

The third edition, expanded by Walter Kelly, of this early account of Borneo and Sarawak. The extracts from the journal of James Brooke, who sailed to Borneo in 1838 and through helping the Sultan of Brunei became the Rajah of Sarawak, occupy the first volume, while the second covers the following period, in which Captain Keppel joined Brooke's anti-piracy efforts with ships from the Royal Navy and East India Company.
