Description

12mo, pp. 36. Untrimmed in original wrappers, front wrapper engraved. Spotting, gutter cracked. Wrappers soiled and worn, edges creased.

Notes

An unrecorded little printing of Blair's famous poem on death, together with Gray's elegy. We have not been able to trace another copy in Library Hub or Worldcat. The publisher, William Martin, is listed in SBTI as a secondhand bookseller and auctioneer, originally a shoemaker, and 'nicknamed 'Bibles''. His South College-Street address on the printed title-page is not recorded there, but on the wrapper he is given as 'W. Marten [sic], No. 1 Lothian Street', where SBTI has him from 1805 to 1811.
