Contemporary calf, boards bordered with a gilt roll, spine divided by gilt rolls, red morocco label, other compartments tooled centrally in gilt, marbled edges. Somewhat shaken, some scattered soiling. A little scratched, extremities rubbed. Gift inscription to half-title: ‘To Miss Agnes Walkinshaw from E.H.’

A spoof anthology from the pen of James Hogg, who has parodied Byron, Scott, Coleridge, Southey and himself, contributing under his own name a long poem in Scots about a cat.
