Binding just a little scratched. Ownership inscription of Walter Jodok Kohler and his monogram to flyleaf dated 12/24/31.
A beautifully-bound anthology of quotations from Dr Johnson, recorded by Library Hub in Cambridge and the BL only, the latter as vol. 4 of the 'Elzevir Library' in the same format and pagination. No such series title is evident here; the individual volumes may have been reissued separately, perhaps with a new title-page, which would help explain the curious pagination.
This copy belonged to a governor of Wisconsin: either Walter Jodok Kohler Sr (1875-1940), 26th governor, or his son Walter Jodik Kohler Jr (1904-1976), 33rd governor.
