The first edition of this juvenile Catholic manual by Robert Hugh Benson (1871-1914), son of Archbishop of Canterbury Edward White Benson and one of four author siblings, the best-remembered of whom today is likely E[dward] F[rederic] Benson, author of the Mapp and Lucia novels.
Robert's own literary efforts were centred around his conversion to Catholicism and include two speculative fiction dystopian novels; this children's book was popular enough to reach an eighth impression by 1924 but is institutionally scarce, with Library Hub recording 5 copies of the first and a smattering of reprints.
