Description

24mo, pp. 47, [1]. 8 leaves of plates printed in sanguine included within pagination. Original salmon paper wrappers pasted to first and last leaves as issued, front wrapper lettered in ink. Wrappers somewhat soiled.

Notes

An attractive religious chapbook, an unusual survival in original paper wrappers, with 16 illustrations printed in red. The BL's catalogue entry (alone among the several holdings in Library Hub) says the illustrations are attributed to Thomas Bewick - this is doubtful although his workshop did produce blocks for Lumsden's chapbooks around this time.
