FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. xiv, 270, [2] + 7 leaves with printed music. Later half brown roan, marbled boards, spine divided by raised bands, lettered in gilt, central gilt tools to other compartments, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt, other rough-trimmed. A hint of spotting. Binding rubbed and a little worn to extremities. Author’s name pencilled to title-page, a few pencil notes to rear flyleaf.

Notes

A useful collection of Scottish ballads (praised by Walter Scott), mainly taken from the north and north-eastern part of the country, by George Ritchie Kinloch (1797-1877), a legal clerk to several prominent advocates and later keeper of the Register of Deeds.
