A rare survival of correspondence from a Scotsman resident in Russia in the first half of the nineteenth century. The writer is a Mr Baxter in St Petersburg, writing to his sister Helen Rennie in Perthshire, telling of her of his recent marriage to Elizabeth Koutkine, in which he sings her praises in moving from a palace into his cottage, bringing with her all her fine linens.
