The first anthology edited by poet and ballad collector William Motherwell (1797-1835). This edition is a reissue of the Turnbull's 1820 edition with a cancel title-page adding 'Beauties of The Scottish Poets' in a presumed attempt to widen its appeal. The sheets may in fact be left over from the 1819 Paisley first, since the Turnbull editions have a Paisley printer in the colophon and all three editions use the same plate for the frontispiece.
