FIRST EDITIONS, 8vo, pp. [vi], 56 + 12 plates; [viii], 66 + 12 plates. Original pale boards printed in black and either red or blue with integral flaps. Plates in second vol. a little cockled. Bindings a little rubbed and marked, small area of loss to paper covering of front board of vol. 2.

Notes

Two attractive wartime productions with the author's own illustrations. [James] Fenton Wyness was an architect by profession but wrote a series of local histories alongside these two volumes of folklore, containing tales of witchcraft, hauntings and smugglers. They were reprinted in a single volume in 1970.
