Notes

This reissue of the 1792 British Army drill manual belonged to Captain Charles Kinloch (1788-1828), who was commissioned into the 95th Light Infantry in 1806 and took part in the Bombardment of Copenhagen the following year and the Walcheren Campaign in 1809, before being posted to Portugal and wounded at the Siege of Badajoz. A silhouette likeness is held by The National Galleries of Scotland, and his letters home were published in 2007.
