PRESENTATION COPY, 8vo, pp. xix, [iii], 498. Original green cloth, front board and spine bettered in gilt, small, thistle design blocked to spine in purple, white dustjacket printed in black and purple. One opening and rear endpapers discoloured from newspaper clippings now removed. Dustjacket creased and marked, head of spine panel a little chipped. Inscribed to flyleaf: ‘For my old friend, Great tutor and Great Scot with gratitude and affection, from Hugh MacDiarmid’.
