A nice set of 'the definitive two-volume edition of the pre-Reformation Scottish church's canon law and constitutions,' (ODNB), edited by historian and journalist Joseph Robertson (1810-1866). Robertson had been one of the founders of the Spalding Club in 1839, and after moving to Edinburgh had risen to be the vice-president of the Society of Scottish Antiquaries by 1862. The first volume is almost entirely taken up with Robertson's compendious introduction, with the texts, together with critical notes, to the second volume. This copy belonged to his fellow Society member, George Stirling Home Drummond, made a Fellow in 1851.
