Description

FIRST COLLECTED EDITIONS, SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, pp. 159, [1]; [viii], 135, [1]. Original colour-printed wrappers. Spine of True Confessions lightly creased, wrappers of Dreaming Frankenstein lightly discoloured as often. Dreaming Frankenstein signed by the author to the title-page, True Confessions inscribed to half-title: ‘All very best wishes, Liz Lochhead, 1985’, folded letter from publisher loosely inserted.

Notes

The first editions of two collections of Lochhead's work, each signed by the author. Dreaming Frankenstein reprints her three previous collections, The Grimm Sisters (1982), Islands (1978) and Memo For Spring (1972) alongside new work. A loosely inserted letter from Polygon Books dated 26th October '89 advises the recipient that 'the yellowing on the spine is due to experimentation with a new glue by the printer, thus most copies have this flaw to varying degrees'. True Confessions collects poems, songs and short dramatic pieces written for the stage, as well as a short section ('the New Clichés' of the title) of previously-unpublished material.
