FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, pp. 61, [1]. Original blue cloth, spine blocked in black and lettered in gilt, cream dustjacket printed in red. Dustjacket price-clipped and a little soiled, head of spine panel sometime reinforced with tape to reverse. Inscribed by Henderson (as “Seumas Mór”) in ink to flyleaf: ‘Le gach L-uik dheagh dhùrachd. Dun-eideann ’55’, ownership inscription of Iain K. Gauld to top corner.

Notes

A signed copy of the hardcover issue of Hamish Henderson's cycle of war poetry, written between 1943 and 1947 and informed by his time serving in North Africa. It won the Somerset Maugham award in 1949. Henderson has inscribed this copy in Gaelic with best wishes.
