Notes
An oddity of publication - an early edition of a Fife-set novel by Scottish writer Jessie Kerr Lawson (1838-1917), who emigrated to Canada in the 1860s, in a publisher's binding crediting it instead to Shetlandic novelist Jessie M.E. Saxby (1842-1940). It was first published in 1893, this undated printing in the publisher's 'Butterfly Library' series is likely a slightly later reprint which has escaped the eye of posterity and the attention of cataloguers. Library Hub records 5 copies, all dated 1893, with Oxford designating theirs as number 6 in the 'Pocket Library', a series which at least seems to have credited the authors correctly on its bindings.
