An advance readers' copy of the second Potter book, which was unusually produced with the artwork that was to feature on the first American dustjacket to its wrappers, as opposed to the generic wrappers more usually used for ARCs. Interviewed about the proof for Sorcerer's Stone which was similarly bedecked, publisher Arthur Levene called it 'elegantmadding 'we wanted to make a big splash' (quoted in Errington).
