The scarce first edition of a short but important work by the superintendent of the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh, a post for which M'Nab had been headhunted from the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew. Outside of Scotland Library Hub locates only two copies of this edition (at Kew and RHS) and one copy of the 1831 second edition (BL); the NLS holds both while Aberdeen, St Andrews, and Edinburgh have firsts only and Glasgow a second only. Worldcat adds first editions in Harvard, NYPL and Botanical Garden, Guelph, and NLI, with the second in Wageningen, Delaware, and Yale.
