Description

Single sheet (A3 size) folded in half to form 4 pages, printed in colour. A little creased.

Notes

A scarce leaflet soliciting funds to commission a sculpture in memory of the poet Hugh MacDiarmid in his birthplace of Langholm in the Scottish borders. It is illustrated with photographic images of the site, and contains paragraphs about MacDiarmid himself, the Scottish sculpture Trust and its fundraising goals, and Macdiarmid's connection to Langholm. It also quotes liberally from his poetry, with extracts from A Drunk Man looks at the Thistle and the Second Hymn to Lenin. The appeal was successful and the sculpture by Jake Harvey was unveiled in 1985.
Library Hub records just two copies, in NLS and NLW.
