Original beige cloth, lettered in outline in a black ground boarded with a gilt rule, dustjacket printed in grey, red, black and beige, top edge grey. Endpapers a little spotted. Dustjacket price-clipped, just a touch bumped to edges, a little soiled to rear panel.
The third printing of Jones's first world war epic, first published in June the previous year. It won the Hawthornden Prize and was acclaimed by T.S. Eliot, who had acquired it for Faber in his capacity as editor at the press, as 'a work of genius' in an introduction for a later reissue. More recently, the Welsh poet Owen Sheers presented a BBC documentary on the book, entitled 'The Greatest Poem of World War One'.
