The response of William Leslie to the accusation of perjury and electoral fraud brought by Alexander Penrose-Cumming, the failed candidate for parliament in Elgin and Forres in the general election of 1784. Leslie argues that Penrose-Cumming lacks standing and cannot prove any damages, and also that Leslie had held a portion of an estate under a mortgage dating back to the closely fought election of 1774, when both sides were granting liferents and wadsets to increase the roll.
