Despite the title-page this is the second edition of this parody of Rokeby, and the first edition with the coloured frontispiece. Per Todd and Bowden it was published on the 23rd of July, only six months after the first publication of Rokeby, and a month before the fifth edition of Scott's own poem was published. Tegg may have been inspired by the original's popularity to cheat his edition statement - but if he did so he was only following the lead of Ballantyne and Co., who had reissued the sheets for their second edition of Rokeby with a new title-page calling it the third edition some months earlier.
