Notes

A finely-bound copy of Ovid's Art of Love, in the 1830s translation into French by Charles Héguin de Guerle (1793-1881), luxuriously printed for the Club Francais du Livre and illustrated by the graphic designer Jacques Darche (1920-1965), the club's artistic director. Originally published in 1950, this is the 1961 issue but retains the earlier date in the copyright statement, leading to some confusion in catalogue records. A smaller format version was issued in 1966 as part of the club's 'Privilège' series.
