A rare, anonymous pamphlet, which relates a tale of financial woe and deceit on the part of the titular Lady in Scotland's deceased husband. Halkett and Laing attribute it to a William Mercer, citing the NLS record; the record in question reads 'MS. note: "said to be by a person of the name of Mercer"'. The source for the attribution of the forename is unknown, but if it is a guess for the 17th-century poet William Mercer it is incorrect, as the author of this is punctilious with dates, and the affair he is relating is contemporary with its printing. ESTC locates just the NLS copies and one further at Yale.
