Notes

A later reprint of a series of letters written under the pseudonym 'Junius'. First published in 1772 by Henry Sampson Woodfall (1739-1805), the letters' criticism of King George III and his government led to a court case where Woodfall was tried for publishing material deemed seditious. There is speculation that politician Philip Francis (1740-1818) was the man behind the pseudonym Junius, but no firm evidence has ever been found.
This copy has survived nicely in the publisher's binding, printed as part of the 'Dove's English Classics' series.
