Original red pebble-grain cloth, ruled in black, spine lettered in gilt, black endpapers. Occasional foxing, particularly to plate mounts, one gathering partly sprung. Extremities a little rubbed and bumped, a few spots to spine. Booklabel of R.D.W. Forrest to pastedown, his ownership inscription (1878) and a later one to half-title.
