Contemporary olive green calf, spine divided by elaborate gilt rolls, green morocco label, other compartments tooled in gilt and blind, boards bordered with double gilt rules and blind rolls. A little spotting. Binding slightly rubbed and scratched, extremities a touch worn. A pencil note reading ‘Prof. John Wilson’ to front pastedown.

Notes

The third edition of this collection of prose that was likely written by John Wilson, a Scottish writer and philosophy professor at the University of Edinburgh. He is best known for his contributions to 'Noctes Ambrosianae', which were published in Blackwood's Magazine from 1822, and followed a number of characters based upon James Hogg, Thomas De Quincey, and other writers.
