Notes

The first appearance of any of Lolita in America, a 90-page extract from the novel which preceded the full book through American presses by a year. It is accompanied by appreciative preface by F.W. Dupee and an essay on the book by Nabokov.
In addition to the Lolita material, there are pieces by Hugh Trevor-Roper and Marguerite Yourcenar, and Auden's essay 'The Dyer's Hand', and the typography is by Edward Gorey.
