FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. [72]. Stapled in original teal wrappers with title printed in black. Foxed at beginning and end. Wrappers sunned, chipped around the edges. Loosely inserted 5-leaf typescript titled ‘Travelling Song of an Aged Pilgrim,’ signed ‘H.M.W. Morocco & England, April-October 1934.’

Notes

Scarce poetry by Henry Marriage Wallis (1854-1941), a prominent Reading Quaker who began life in the coal trade but moved on to local politics, humanitarian administration, essay-writing, and then zoology and ornithology, becoming honorary curator for vertebrates at the Reading Museum.
