Notes

The third edition of this scarce collection of the maps sold by Peter Crosthwaite at his museum in Keswick, initially published in 1783 and reprinted with updates and additions into the nineteenth century. Crosthwaite (1735-1808) established his museum at the very beginnings of the tourist trade to the Lake District, and the maps feature notable building elevations and other miscellanea as well as the outlines of and roads around the lakes themselves. The maps were also sold individually and in this compiled form are complete without letterpress or any form of title-page.
