8vo, pp. [x], 377, [1], cxxviii. Contemporary straight-grained red morocco, boards bordered with a triple gilt rule, spine divided by triple gilt rule, lettered direct in gilt, marbled endpapers, edges gilt. Somewhat foxed. Binding a little rubbed and marked. Ink gift inscription to front flyleaf.

Notes

A handsome copy of the fourth edition of Scott's historical romance told in verse. Though it bears the same year as the first, this fourth edition appeared on 7th of January 1809: over 10,000 copies were printed within a year of its first appearance in February of 1808 (per numbers given by Todd & Bowden).
