FIRST EDITION, INSCRIBED BY THE AUTHOR, 8vo, pp. 60 + frontispiece and 1 plate. Original blue cloth, front board lettered in gilt. First and last leaves somewhat toned. Edges of boards a little marked. Inscribed to verso of frontispiece: ‘Yours Sincerely Wm. McKissek’.
The second volume of poetry from a gentleman identified on the title-page as as 'ex-district inspector in the Aberdeen Cleansing Department'. As befits his professional association with sanitation, among the pastoral odes and elegies are poems about the scavengers and street-sweepers of Aberdeen, the latter entitled 'The Knights of The Broom'.
The frontispiece has a printed signature beneath the portrait, but this copy is signed by McKissek to the portrait's reverse. Library Hub records just two copies, at Aberdeen and NLS.
