Notes

Notes on a journey around the world made by Scottish folklorist John Francis Campbell (1821-1885), which was first published in America the previous year. This copy is unusual in that it is bound as two volumes in grey cloth, which gives every indication of being a publisher's binding, instead of the more common single-volume binding of green cloth. It bears a plate not mentioned in the plate list to the rear of vol. 1 - 'The Barber's Shop' - but it matches the other plates and again, is clearly as issued.
