FIRST EDITION, 8vo,pp. xiv, [ii], 312. Black and white illustrations within pagination. Original light green cloth, front board blocked in green and gilt, spine lettered in gilt, all edges gilt. Some spotting. Spine cocked and somewhat soiled, its gilt dulled, a few other marks, light wear to extremities, front hinge cracked and sometime reglued.

The first edition of Andrew Lang's (1844-1912) own original fairy tales, published after the success of the blue, green, and yellow fairy books which he and his wife Leonora Blanche Alleyne (1851-1933) edited.
