FIRST BRITISH EDITION, second impression, 8vo, pp. [iv], 310. Original red boards, spine lettered in gilt, colour-printed dustjacket. A touch of spotting to textblock edge. Dustjacket just nicked to ends of folds, a little bumped to top edge, white areas showing some foxing and dust-soiling.

Notes

The second printing of the first British edition of the defining novel of the Beat movement, published the same month as the first. The attractive dustjacket is designed by Len Deighton, better-known now for his subsequent career as a spy novelist, and is scarce in this condition.
