Description

8vo, pp. 622 + frontispiece and 12 plates. Near-contemporary polished marbled calf, spine divided by gilt rolls, red morocco label, edges speckled green. A little spotting, some offsetting from plates. Boards a little scratched, rear board lightly marked but very well-preserved. Ownership inscription of Jane Alexander to title-page, that of ‘Alexander, Ann’s Lodge’ to pastedown dated 1854.

Notes

An attractive copy of the earlier issue of this Liverpool-printed collection, with a frontispiece dated 1814 and no engraved half-title, matching a copy described by Russell as having been at Liverpool City Library, but reported 'destroyed by enemy action'.
