FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. 260. Contemporary sheep, spine divided by gilt rules, red morocco label. Some scattered toning and spotting. Rubbed and scratched, spine creased. Pencil ownership inscription of W. McLeod to flyleaf dated 1820, some pencil arithmetic to rear pastedown.

Notes

The first edition of the only published work by bookseller and erstwhile shoemaker Robert Galloway (1752-1794); a second edition followed in 1792. The poems in Scots and English are followed by a sympathetic account in prose of the life of Prince Charles Edward Stuart and the Jacobite cause.
