Description

8vo, pp. xii, 364. Original textured purple cloth, boards blocked in blind, spine lettered vertically in gilt, endpapers printed with ads. Binding a little rubbed, spine sunned and bumped with small tears to ends.

Notes

An unrecorded later reprint of a popular educational work on elocution, with the author stating in the preface that 'it embraces many extracts from modern authors, which have not before appeared in Class-Book collections, and which are also well calculated to bring out the powers of the voice.' As it was reprinted so frequently, the stereotype plates wore out, prompting a new edition in 1852. The pagination in this edition matches other editions from 1857 and 1860.
