Notes

An appeal for damages against the representatives of Archibald Douglas, Duke of Douglas, on behalf of the late Walter Colvill, a baker and macer of the Court of Session, and his widow and eldest son, following the conclusion of the Douglas Cause. Walter and his family had been 'attached' to Lady Jane Douglas, providing assistance of various kinds, while the controversy over the inheritance of the Douglas line had raged, and their case argues that representatives of Archibald Douglas had taken advantage of them and embezzled their livings, ruining them financially. The final page gives an accounting of just the material damages, totalling well over a thousand pounds.
