12mo, pp. 28, iv, 224. Contemporary marbled calf, spine divided by gilt rules, black morocco label. A touch of soiling. Rubbed and a little marked, slight wear in places. Gift inscription to flyleaf: ‘Michael Lister, The Gift of his Mother Henrietta Lister 1807,’ further ownership marks of Michael Lister to flyleaf with inscription ‘Fordam Bridge.’

Notes

A scarce Edinburgh printing of Mason's book, first published in 1745 'which quickly became one of the most popular works of moral advice and self-help of its time, with a popular appeal that lasted into the following century' (ODNB). This edition is not listed in Library Hub, with Worldcat adding only Georgia and The Library of Congress.
