Description

FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. vi, [ii], 207, [7], 211-295, [5, ads] + folding frontispiece map and 1 single-page map. Original green textured cloth, front board lettered in gilt. Toned and soiled, a few edge-tears to early leaves and frontispiece. Binding somewhat shaken, cloth rubbed and soiled, front joint worn in places. Notes

Not a beautiful copy, but a scarce work. The text includes an unpaginated 'Postscript' after p.207 which describes Edward John Eyre's overland expedition to Adelaide, including the naming of Lake Hindmarsh, and the 'gardening calendar' is probably the first printed gardening guide for South Australia.
