Notes

A scarce travelogue by Charles John Shore, 2nd Baron Teignmouth (1796-1885), Conservative MP. It contains much significant coverage of the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Man - as well as indication that Orcadians gleaned the identity of the author of Waverley from the text of The Pirate, since the descriptions of Orkney therein matched the locations Scott had seen on his visit. Especially unusual in the original cloth.
