The first complete account of cruises taken across several summers by Scottish advocate and salmon fisheries inspector Archibald Young (1820-1900). His trips on the 35-ton cutter yacht totalled 'more than 7000 miles, going twice round Britain, visiting the Orkney and Shetland Islands, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and also parts of Ireland, France, and Norway.' All the illustrations are based on photographs of Young's drawings, with the gorgeous hand-coloured plates prepared by 'Messrs. R.S. and W. Forrest' at Brandon Street Studio, a cabinet print photography studio based in Canonmills from 1890-1905.
