A summons raised against the provost and councillors of Oban as representatives of the burgh, to be sentenced and fined for damage to the property of John M'Dougall. The property in question is a stream on the estate of Dunollie, which had been appropriated for use by tearing down a march-dike and bleaching linens on the surrounding lands, in violation of M'Dougall's exclusive ownership. M'Dougall is presumably the 25th Laird of Dunollie (1789-1865), an ardent nationalist and owner of the only 5-piece tartan suit to survive from the Highland Revival period.
