Notes

A reprint of the adapted script for Jonson's Alchemist, with the frontispiece featuring David Garrick as Abel Drugger, a role that helped launch his career. Garrick had retired from the stage in 1766, but stayed on to manage the theatre until 1776, returning to the stage that year for a series of farewell performances.
