Description

FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. 314, [6, ads]. Original green cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, maps printed in green to endpapers, colour-printed dustjacket. Dustjacket torn across front panel and chipped with some small losses, spine ends bumped. Ex libris slip of John M. Simpson pasted to half-title, ink gift inscription dated 1935 to verso of front flyleaf.

Notes

The first edition of John Buchan's twenty-first novel, with a slightly later dustjacket - with a different design, priced on the spine at three shillings instead of 7, and containing an advertisement for 'The Gap in the Curtain' (1932) - perhaps a remainder issue, or an early marriage.
